We have two weeks to create a prototype for a video game. The theme is saving the planet.
In today's meeting, we decided that each team member should bring their own idea. My idea is the Blood Sea.
Here is my idea:
The planet is a living eye.
As time passes in the game, its wounds will grow larger.
The planet is being sliced, player need to delving into the ocean depths to find treasures and repair the planet.
I have outlined the most crucial variables in the game, which interact with each other.
Regarding the design of the player losing visibility:
1.Since the planet is an eye, I think it would be interesting to gradually reduce the player's field of view as the planet gets more damaged.
2.This would make deeper Blood Sea explorations more challenging.
Due to the limited time, we believe implementing swimming effects for the demo might be challenging. I'm considering starting with very low gravity as a solution.
Switching between 2D and 3D could be difficult, so we might opt for a 2D menu style instead.
Some considerations added after the discussion:
Above the ocean is the start menu where you can view the planets health levels.
Under the ocean you have heavy boots so under the ocean is a ormal 2D platformer where you go depper down over time.
Additional notes
I haven't given much thought to how the player character looks, but Lucy(My team member) mentioned angels and demons, which instantly reminded me of the novel 'Good Omens,' which I really enjoyed. I plan to use this great idea.
